Problem: So what do you do when you have more than 140 race medals on hangers in the closet?
Solution: Buy some oak dowel rods and a nice piece of oak hardwood and make a medal rack!

Detailed pictures below:
This is the "old" system. Medals hung on wooden clothes hangers.
I went to the local Home Depot and bought a nice piece of 3/4" x 8" x 10' oak hardwood. I also purchased 3/4" dowel rods and 1/4" oak hobby wood (for the back supports)
The pieces are ready to glue and screw together. I drilled 7/8" holes for the dowels to go through.
All pieces glued and attached. The "Honey Oak" stain has been applied.
I used Gorilla Wood Glue and used my pneumatic finish nail gun to attach all pieces.
I cut out notches for the lap joints to attach the backing plates. (1/4" x 2-1/2" hobby wood)
Polyurethane applied and ready to hang on the wall.
Here is the final product. It looks like I might need to build another rack - I still have about 30 medals left.
